HEAT-TREATING

Heat Treating is a metalworking process used to alter the physical properties of steel fasteners in order to meet desired hardness and performance targets. In order to achieve these targets, both time and temperature are used together in a controlled fashion to satisfy the customer specification. Our latest state of the art furnaces utilize process control software that fully monitors and records all elements of the production cycle; including, observed temperatures, feeding rate and real-time atmosphere conditions. Loading and throughput are controlled by a pre-planned recipe, while production rates are maintained by the thermal capabilities of the equipment. Our Detroit operations feature two 5,000# per hour automated continuous belt style furnace lines capable of producing over 5 million pounds per month. Our Fremont, Indiana operations feature six automated continuous belt style furnace lines capable of producing over 15 million pounds per month. Mesh style transport belts offer a preferred method of material handling. Parts automatically flow through each stage of the process cycle with minimal drop heights to effectively preserve product quality.
