WIRE PROCESSING
Wire processing begins with large coils of steel wire that will be utilized for the production of fasteners. These coils are initially loaded into large box style furnaces for a process called annealing. The annealing process is a form of heat treatment that alters the steel properties to increase its ductility and reduce its hardness, making it more workable during the upstream bolt forming process.
Plating
With a focus on quality and attention to the entire process flow, AJAX can apply a wide range of electroplating and surface coating requirements currently specified by industry. Our in-house capability of over 15 million pounds per month includes popular finishes such as; standard zinc, zinc-iron, zinc-nickel, tin-zinc and zinc phosphate coatings, all performed with highly automated work centers and barrel style processing.
LOCKING & SEALING
With the capability of processing over 30 million pieces per month, our Lock & Seal operation applies microencapsulated thread adhesives to both plated and coated fasteners. These adhesives are designed to be applied, and heat cured in place; remaining dormant until the shearing action of installation breaks imbedded capsules, allowing the active ingredients to be released in the assembled joint for engineered integrity.
HEAT-TREATING
Heat Treating is a metalworking process used to alter the physical properties of steel fasteners in order to meet desired hardness and performance targets. In order to achieve these targets, both time and temperature are used together in a controlled fashion to satisfy the customer specification.
